October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month – Day #19

Beautiful Wil
Yes, there are challenges, but working with challenges has the power to bring out the best in people. I know, because this guy brings out the best in me. I’m the lucky one that he calls “Mommy”

Reading your posts I couldn’t help thinking that too often, when talking about various illnesses or disabilities, we focus on what life could look like instead of what it is right here and now. Like you said, working with challenges is worth all the effort, especially when a smile on child’s face is the prize. Your Son looks so happy and I think You are a wonderful mother.

That is such a good point about focusing on the here and now. Most of us go through a grieving process for the loss what might have been. And, when we are able to put our focus on the here and now, we see how very precious everything is and can be.
Its no wonder that you write beautiful poetry, you have a great perspective!
